A British Cheese and Wine Tasting Event.
Mention British Food to anyone outside of the UK and the response is usually one of Laughter mixed with ridicule. Inevitably followed by the words "fish and chips" or "Mad Cows disease".
It is true that too many Brits eat rubbish. It is ironic that we eat fast food to save time and money. Then end up paying time and money in a gymn to shed the weight we put on !
It is a hard message to convey but Britain really does have some fine foods. Without a doubt one of them is natural cheese. We have had centuries in which to perfect the art of making artisan cheese. Even the normal supermarkets hold a vast selection of cheeses where a good proportion is simply excellent.
I have been living in Japan for seven years. Initially sent over by the European Union to join the Executive training progamme designed to help improve trade between Japan and Europe. At some point along the way I became tired of all the ridicule and decided to do something to paint a more accurate picture of what Britain has to offer in terms of food.
One of my loves is cheese. Since Britain has over 800 different types of cheese. It will be interesting to find out which types are liked and disliked over here in Japan.
This website is about British Cheese and Wine evenings I arrange in Japan to promote British cheese.
The events are not only the Japanese but any non British nationality that yet to learn of our amazing culinary gifts. Especially those that say hurtful things about our food.
